Coolest Cat Tree

How cool is this cat tree? My boys would be in heaven if this were in my living room! I saw this while surfing around on Etsy one day and thought, "What a cool idea!" Just goes to show what some creativity (and carpenter skills) will do for you. Maybe a little pricey for me right now, but there has to be someone out there who will buy this.

The couple that creates these (Pet Tree Houses) uses real cedar and oak wood and silk leaves for an "outdoor" feel. Of course the inspiration came from her own four-legged children.

Back from vacation

I'm back from a few days of much needed rest and relaxation. We hiked, played games, ate, did a few mind-boggling and eye-crossing puzzles, played some shuffleboard (no, you don't have to be retired to do this!) and of course I stitched. I didn't get as much finished as I would have liked (I never do). I seem to have delusions that I'm going to finish so much, forgetting all the other great things I like to do on vacation.

There are quite a few color combinations in this one. Lots of blending and half-stitches with different thread counts. I filled in a bit more of the Indian's feather cloak and the rock formations:
But there is still much more to come. For instance, the top half has a design made of half-stitches, as if it were made from the clouds in the night sky.
If only I had one more day...

Ready for vacation

I'm getting ready for vacation at one of my favorite places: Capon Springs, WV. It's a great mountain retreat with no phones, no computers, no TVs. Just good food, good friends, good times! And did I mention the great home cooked meals? Yummy! I sure hope that fireplace is stoked because it's a bit chilly outside!

I plan on spending lots of time stitchin' away - in between playing games and spending time with my family, of course. I've been working on a project for my Dad for Christmas. It's about 1/3 finished. Not sure if I'm going to make it this year, but I'm going to give it my all! Here's what it looks like today:

Let's see how much I really get finished in the next 4 days!

Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog! I hope I can keep up with this, it's all new to me. I just realized that there are so many cool, crafty things I find each day. So anything I can do to help promote the crafting and handmade world, I should do it. I might even include regular stuff about my life too.
